Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty

The eyes are our most important means of human connection.

Heavy upper eyelids are one of the earliest signs of aging. Over time, excess skin accumulates and deeper structures descend, causing the eyelids to lose their youthful volume and shape.

Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty
How is Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty performed?

EyeLift-3DTM procedures begin with meticulous surgical planning, involving meticulous measurements and markings. Laser incisions are used to remove precise amounts of excess eyelid skin. However, we understand that optimal results require more than just addressing the superficial layers. We also focus on deeper structures, such as reducing excess orbital fat and repositioning descended glands. The final step involves addressing the surrounding skin that will remain after surgery. This is accomplished through the use of lasers and energy-based devices to tighten and resurface the skin, providing a refined finishing touch.

Asian Blepharoplasty - Double Eyelid Surgery

Asian Blepharoplasty, commonly known as double eyelid surgery, is a procedure to createa defined crease in the upper eyelid. The goal is often to achieve a double eyelid, a featurethat is considered aesthetically desirable in many cultures. Asian Blepharoplasty is highlyindividualized, considering factors like the patient's unique eye anatomy, desired creaseheight, and overall facial harmony. Dr. Denton uses both the incisional method andnon-incisional suture method, depending on the client preferences and anatomicalconsiderations. While the goal is a double fold, there are many other aspects of thisprocedure that dier from blepharoplasty in our clients from other ethnic backgrounds.

How long does upper eyelid surgery take?

Upper Eyelid Surgery takes 60-75 minutes.

What type of anesthetic is required for upper eyelid blepharoplasty?

Most of our clients choose oral sedation and local anesthetic for upper eyelid surgery. A smaller percent choose to have the procedure performed under general anesthesia (aka asleep).

How long is the downtime after Eyelid surgery?

Variable degrees of bruising and swelling can occur for 2-3 weeks after surgery. Expect continued improvement for up to six months, with incisions fading in 9-12 months. Incisions are discreetly placed at the eyelid crease, which naturally conceals the healing process once the initial swelling and bruising subside.

How long will the results of Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty last?

Blepharoplasty provides enduring results and is a surgery that is only required only once for most individuals. A smaller percentage of people require a second blepharoplasty 10-20 years after their first procedure.

Can Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty correct asymmetry between the two eyelids?

Many eyelid asymmetries can be corrected with Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty, while some cannot be corrected due to individual anatomy or issues like uneven brow descent as the source of asymmetry.

The consultation with Dr. Paul Denton will provide you with a detailed understanding of the surgical process, recovery, expected outcomes, and tailored advice to your unique concerns.

Is eyelid heaviness only due to excess skin?

Brow descent can also contribute. Eyelid surgery alone may not fully address heaviness in such cases, necessitating a brow lift.

What procedures can be combined with EyeLift-3D™?

In addition to EyeLift-3DTM surgery, our clients commonly undergo procedures such as a Brow Lift, Facelift, Fat Transfer, or Lip Lift to achieve comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
